Here principal, Cathleen Smith, accepts our donation of Read Across America books from F&V member, Kathleen Woodring
This year’s selections for preschoolers through third grade.
The Friends and Volunteers of the Ocean City Free Public Library continued the long-standing tradition of gifting each OC Primary School student with a book in celebration of Read Across America Day. Although we are disappointed that we can not be guest readers in classrooms this year, we are pleased to provide an age appropriate book for every student from preschool to third grade. Just over 300 books were purchased and gifted this year. Due to our literacy partnership with Scholastic, seventy free children’s books were also included with our delivery.
Awesome program to promote literacy and excite children about reading by receiving a new book to read! So glad that the program is continuing despite needing to make adjustments this year. Thanks, Kathleen and Nick, for your efforts to help the F&V connect with the Primary School and our local children. Looking forward to being back in the classrooms for next year’s Read Across America! 👍
