Read Across America Celebration

The Friends and Volunteers and local community members gathered at the Primary School on Thursday, March 2, 2023 to celebrate Read Across America 2023 with PreK to 3rd grade students. Read Across America is an initiative on reading, created by the National Education Association in 1997, with the goal of having an annual day to celebrate the joys of reading. Volunteers spread throughout the school armed with favorite children’s books to read aloud in each classroom. The Friends and Volunteers, who have sponsored this event for many years, also provided a book for each Primary School student to take home and share with their family. Volunteer readers enjoyed a warm welcome from principal, Cathy Smith, school board members and students alike!
