The Friends and Volunteers continued the long standing tradition of gifting each Primary School student with a book in celebration of NEA’s Read Across America project. This year’s theme is ”Celebrating a Nation of Diverse Readers”. Read Across America is celebrated yearly on March 2nd with the purpose of sharing the joys of reading with children across the country.

Just over 300 books were purchased and gifted this year. Due to our Literary Partnership with Scholastic, 40 free children’s books were also included with our delivery.
Although we are disappointed that we cannot be guest readers in classrooms this year, we are pleased to provide an age appropriate book for every student from Preschool to Third Grade.
Nine F & V members gathered at the Ocean City Public Library to sort and organize the books. Pictured here are Jeanne Pless, Alice Rinkavage and Babs Stefano.
Just the thing to look forward to during this cold snowy winter…. a book sale! Fiction and nonfiction books for children, young adults and adults will be on sale. Puzzles, graphic novels and just the title you were looking for will be available in the library atrium.
