Many hours are spent preparing for each book sale. Members sort and prepare the donated and discarded books for many weeks before each sale. The Friends and Volunteers along with the help of volunteers from the American Legion and the high school National Honor Society set up the sale in the atrium of the community center for the two day sale. The book sales are very popular and proceeds from the event support the many programs sponsored by the F & V.

The display case is decorated for the holiday season with Wedgwood Christmas plates on loan from Pat Lewis, White House Christmas ornaments on loan from Marie Platzer and Mosaic Christmas Trees on loan from Lucy Eiselen and Anne Cancelmo. Viewers have been challenged to find three elves in the display.
