The purpose of the Friends and Volunteers of the Ocean City Free Public Library is to help focus public attention on the library, to champion the library’s facilities and services, to encourage financial support of the library’s projects, and to promote literacy throughout the community.

General membership meetings are held at 10:00 A.M. on the second Monday of each month in the Chris Maloney Lecture Hall. New members and visitors are ALWAYS welcome!

High points include:

The collaboration between the Ocean City Free Public Library and the Friends and Volunteers of the Ocean City Free Public Library affords the annual Autumn Author’s Luncheon and the Spring Author’s Tea held at the Historic Flanders Hotel.

The used book sales and participation in the Ocean City Fall and Spring block parties provide funding for the many Friends and Volunteers’ projects and programs…

• Baby Bags—given to each new mother at Shore Medical Center
• Read Across America—each student in Head Start, Pre-K through third grade in the Ocean City School District receives a book
• First Day of Kindergarten—all Kindergarteners in the Ocean City School District receive a gift bag that includes a book and other Kindergarten items.
